I know lots of people do it, but I've never worked from home so I can only imagine this cartoon is accurate.  I do know if I worked from home I'd be dressed verrrrry comfortably - like this guy (minus the tie).  Let's hope they don't ask him to more...

NEW CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE COMING IN JANUARY

California will be adopting new buiding codes effective January 1, 2017.  Adoption includes the 2016 California Building Code, which is largely based on the 2015 International Building Code, as well as the 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards, also known as the Title 24 Energy Code or simply "T24".  Among the many changes are the adoption of the 2015 International Existing Building Code or IEBC and new design requirements for support of roof-mounted PV panels.  Some jurisdictions outside of California have already adopted or plan to soon adopt the 2015 IBC, which has similar requirements.  For detailed information on changes and how they may affect you, click here.

WHERE TO FIND OLDER VERSIONS OF UBC

It's a common challenge:  your project involves renovation of an older building designed under an obsolete version of the building code.  You need to know what code provisions were in place at the time the building was constructed.  Where can you turn?  Click here for complete versions of the Uniform Building Code from 1927 through 1994 posted on the Cal Berkeley Library website.
