Wright Engineers was founded in Las Vegas in 1997 by Brent Wright, SE, an ambitious 30-something structural engineer who had just completed several high-profile projects in Las Vegas including the Stratosphere Tower and the Circus Circus Adventuredome. Brent took out a home equity loan to cover start-up and operating expenses, cobbled together some used office equipment, brought his computer from home, and set up shop in a small three-room office with faded blue carpet and a roof that leaked whenever it rained.
Thanks to a strong Las Vegas economy, a staff of talented, hard-working people, and lots of happy clients who kept coming back for more and bringing their friends, the start-up loan was paid off and the company even turned a profit by the end of its first year.
Wright Engineers grew quickly, and in a short while had become one of the largest structural engineering firms in the West. Scott Jones, SE led our expansion into Orange County in 2004. Tye Havey, SE opened Phoenix in 2005, David Winn, SE opened Salt Lake City in 2006, and Braden Forbush, PE led our most recent expansion into Dallas in 2021.
Over the years, we’ve completed thousands of projects from coast to coast. We’ve been ranked as one of the country’s fastest growing engineering firms, and more importantly, for four years in a row now we’ve been named the nation’s #1 best structural engineering firm to work for—a distinction we’re particularly proud of. Along the way, we’ve developed strong and meaningful relationships with our clients and friends in the industry.
Today, a quarter-century later, our singular focus continues to be providing world-class structural engineering services
We thank you for your trust and support. We could not have done this without you.
“We love working with David and the team at Wright Engineers because they really engage as partners in the design process and in our efforts to make the client happy. It gives me great confidence as an architect to have them as part of our design team, knowing we can tackle any structural design challenge we face, which enhances our ability to take care of our clients.”
“Working at Wright Engineers, you really need to do what you love. Sometimes, you may think, “why am I here?” but if you truly love what you do at Wright, then you are in the right place.
If you have a complaint to air, make sure you have a possible solution! The best thing about working at Wright Engineers is the people I work with have been like family; they have been there for me when I needed them. I got to bring in my first baby, Tomi, when I was transitioning from maternity leave back to full time, and Wright Engineers let me work the day with her by my side for a period of 6 weeks!”
“I have been provided with various challenges and rewards throughout the years that have helped me and pushed me to grow in my profession and as a person. I enjoy all fun things in and out of the office. I have had one job since I graduated college and I can’t imagine having to work anywhere else. I enjoy that everyone is willing to also grow and progress and adapt and change over the years to make the working environment continuously improving.
Every job has days when things seem hard and frustrating but when you are supported by your mentors and peers, it helps to get through such days.
– The freedom you are given to do your work and grow as much as you are willing to.”
“Wright Engineers has been a great partner as we have diversified our business. They understand our process and give us quality structural engineering support to meet our ever-changing demands. We appreciate their good communication, responsiveness, flexibility, and willingness to make time for us when we have questions.”
“I feel like I’ve had a storybook career at Wright Engineers. And I don’t feel like I’m alone in being able to say this. Others have similar stories. And that is the magic of Wright. I joined Wright as a small but quickly growing firm almost 22 years ago. From day one, straight out of college, I was given the title and responsibilities of a Project Manager. I grew into being a competent Project Manager quickly! In the years that followed, as I saw ways that I thought the firm could improve, Brent listened and allowed me to implement my ideas (the good ones, that is!). After just 3-1/2 years I was entrusted to open a branch office and became a Principal. I grew extremely quickly during that time! Now I have a very successful team of my own here in Southern California that I am immensely proud of. Wright Engineers has consistently given me as much responsibility as I’ve wanted to take on. And I’m so grateful for that. I wouldn’t want a career any other way!”
“I’ve been at Wright long enough for some of my children to be born and work their way through high school and into college. It has been a very supportive place to work while trying to raise a young family. I remember during one very busy time, a family crisis came up. My supervisor came to me and basically took all those projects from me and said: “I’ll take care of these – go be with your family”.”
“I have been so blessed to work at Wright Engineers over the last several years. Wright has taken care of myself and my family in so many ways during my time at the company. Just one major example is when I became pregnant and wanted to transition to an at home position my team was very supportive in the shift and even welcome my kids onto Zoom video calls to this day. I don’t believe ordinary companies would be so extraordinarily flexible like Wright Engineers has been and I am so lucky to be on a team that supports me and loves my kids. Wright Engineers is a truly special company and anyone that becomes a team member becomes part of the family.”
“It has been a real pleasure working with you and your team for the past 25 years. Wright Engineers has been our “go to” structural engineering firm for a long time. You and your team are hard working and just as dedicated to perfection as we are. You have met some difficult schedules and have done all that we asked of Wright Engineers. I wish you another 25 years of good fortune.”
