NEW CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE COMING IN JANUARY

NEW CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE COMING IN JANUARY

California will be adopting new buiding codes effective January 1, 2017. Adoption includes the 2016 California Building Code, which is largely based on the 2015 International Building Code, as well as the 2016 Building Energy Efficiency Standards, also known as the Title 24 Energy Code or simply “T24”. Among the many changes are the adoption of the 2015 International Existing Building Code or IEBC and new design requirements for support of roof-mounted PV panels. Some jurisdictions outside of California have already adopted or plan to soon adopt the 2015 IBC, which has similar requirements.
