The repurposing of an existing big-box retail development required that Wright Engineers provide a full seismic upgrade to the building’s structure to ensure it meets today’s current seismic code requirements. Structural enhancements included strengthening of roof diaphragm connections and adding shotcrete to select existing shearwalls to improve their ability to withstand seismic forces. This $115M redevelopment, spanning 21 acres in the heart of South Orange County, will feature a 55,000 square foot Tesla dealership, additional large retailers, and a food court. AO Architects is the project’s architect, and ValueRock is the developer.
