ICSC recently named Azalea Regional Shopping Center in South Gate (Los Angeles County) its United States 2015 Design and Development award winner for new developments. The award honors and recognizes premier design and development trends of retail projects within the US. Azalea is approximately 370,000 square feet of open air shopping center on a formerly underutilized 32 acre site. Primestor development is the owner and developer. Nadel Architects is the project’s architect. Wright Engineers provided MEP engineering and sustainable design services.

 

HALL OF FAME BOY SCOUT LEADER

Tye Havey and his family were recently honored for their substantial contributions to the San Tan District of the Boy Scouts of America. Tye was given the “Hall of Fame Boy Scout Leader” award and his family was named “Scout Family of the Year” Tye, Vice President of Wright Engineers and director of our Arizona operations, has served as Scoutmaster or Varsity coach for 7 years. Tye’s wife. April, served as a unit commissioner and was responsible for working on the district committee for several years. heading the district ‘Scouting for Food’ efforts. Tye and the kids helped her put on numerous activities for many scouting units within the district. The San Tan District is one of the largest in the country with over 7,400 boys and over 2,000 adult leaders. Pictured above are (L-R) Allison, Tye, April, Carter, Emily, and Kyle. It’s interesting to note that while the cost to build a new home has increased by about 50% since 2011, the cost of foundations and framing have nearly doubled! One more reason why quality engineering coupled with an overall VE program is money well spent.
