BEN CARLSON STATUE UNVEILING

BEN CARLSON STATUE UNVEILING

A crowd of hundreds gathered in McFadden Square at Newport Pier for the unveiling of a statue honoring veteran Newport Beach lifeguard Ben Carlson who died on July 6, 2014 while attempting to rescue a swimmer. The nine foot tall stainless steel statue is a tribute to Ben’s heroism, and a symbol of respect to lifeguards everywhere. Wright Engineers was honored to donate structural engineering services for the Ben Carlson Foundation.

TRI-ING FAMILY

TRI-ING FAMILY

Fitness and athletics literally runs in the Havey family. Four Havey family members recently placed in the 2016 Jim Brinkerhoff Varsity Triathlon near Safford, AZ. Over 1,500 participants of all ages completed a 75 yard swim, 6 mile bike, and 1.6 mile run. Tye Havey, Wright Engineers’ VP and director of Arizona operations, finished 6th in his age group. Son Kyle and daughters Emily and Allison finished first, third, and third respectively in their age groups. “Kyle placed 5th overall and beat me by a solid 3 1/2 minutes,” said Tye. “I don’t like getting beat, but I’m proud of getting beat by my son.” We’re proud to call the Havey family one of our own.
