PROTECTING PEDESTRIANS ON THE LAS VEGAS STRIP

Construction crews have begun installing steel bollards along Las Vegas Blvd in an effort to keep people walking along the sidewalk safe from vehicle ramming attacks and traffic accidents. Bollards are steel posts embedded in concrete and designed to resist impact from a large vehicle. Clark County plans to install over 8,000 of the bollards along the Strip between the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign and Sahara. Wright Engineers was hired by barrier manufacturer Gibraltar to provide structural engineering services for the project.
